Why Dentistry?
Over the course of my life, the concept of reformation has guided my actions and has motivated me to avoid complacency at all costs. Reformation, defined as “the process of improving something or someone by removing or correcting faults or problems,” is characterized by action. It was at this point that I recognized self-reformation was the only means for me to escape.
As a strong advocate of self-agency, I always believed that if there was anything about my life that I did not like, it was my responsibility to work towards changing it. Recognizing that I had the ability to improve myself filled me with the desire to catalyze that transformation in others. I have never been one to adopt the mindset "every man for himself," as I strive to be a catalyst for change in others' lives. It is my personal belief in the power of reformation that leads me to seek a career in Cosmetic Dentistry. I once asked myself what I was passionate about and how I could one day be able to do that one thing every day. What better way to exercise my passion than to provide others with the tools to reform their oral health and aesthetics.
The dental profession exists on this very premise, as dentistsuse their training to correct faults that detract from optimum oral health. I believe that, through dentistry, I have found my purpose. There is nothing more fulfilling that empowering others to smile.
